Good
Intentions is an amalgamation of members of three
other bands, Unsafe At Any Speed, Fools and Prophets
(formerly Faith & Practice), and Lynn & Tony
Hughes. They have been playing together as Good
Intentions for over two years, but their collective
musical experience totals close to two centuries and
includes at least nine different instruments – guitar,
tenor and 5-string banjo, dobro, mandolin, ukulele,
autoharp, concertina, and button accordion. They support their vocal
harmonies by alternating on rhythm guitar and almost
anything else that isn't a guitar. The result is a
variety of familiar and not-so-familiar tunes spanning
multiple genres, including bluegrass, gospel, old and
new country, folk, Celtic, humor, and originals. They
enjoy sharing their love of music with others in
informal concerts for community groups, fundraisers,
parties, conferences, etc. They encourage
audiences to sing along, dance, and most of all, have
fun at their concerts!
Their name is a nod to the proverbial paved surface of
a certain infamous road. Though their intentions are
good, beware of where the road might lead you.
