About Unsafe Debut Album
Testimonials Contacts

Unsafe is currently on indefinite hiatus. Meanwhile, Bert and Pete are performing either as a duo or a trio as the Brush Brothers. You can read more about them here.

Unsafe At Any Speed is a mixed quartet composed of three men and one woman. Dick, Helen, Pete, and Bert have been involved in folk music since the early sixties and have been playing as a group since 1991. Unsafe plays an eclectic mix of folk, country, bluegrass, and gospel music accompanied primarily on six-string acoustic guitar, five-string banjo, mandolin, dobro, and miscellaneous special effects. Their repertoire includes popular folk songs of the sixties as well as modern and classic country and bluegrass tunes. They also perform a number of original compositions and arrangements which range from humorous to inspirational. Unsafe performances are characterized by crisp multi-part harmonies and imaginative arrangements with a sense of humor and a touch of the unexpected. Unsafe music is suitable for a wide variety of settings including hayrides, campfires, banquets, festivals, clubs, schools, and retirement communities. The members of Unsafe reside in Bucks County, PA and Mercer County, NJ.

"... a nice warm way with the audience...an honest and heartfelt interpretation of these songs with a great down-home charm..."
-- Charlie Zahm, Celtic & Maritime Writer & Performer

"...[Helen] gives people goosebumps when she sings..."
-- Ray Hunsberger, Manager, Perkasie Patchwork Coffeehouse

"Dear Unsafe team,
...Your wonderful music truly made it a joyous occasion.  Thank you for wrapping us up in such a happy sound..."

-- Mrs. Judith Langan, Bucks County, PA,
Rep. for the Fresh air Fund

"The sound and spirit of 'Unsafe' is as pleasing as a warm slice of apple pie.  The songs invoke a range of solid images, from Greenwich village's cafés, midnight protests, to running moonshine in the Smokey Mountains.  Everyone who ever chewed on a long blade of grass will enjoy their music."
-- Greg Kull, Entertainment Coordinator,
Farmhouse Entertainment, Inc.
