Songs of Today, Yesterday and Long Ago

played on Guitar, Autoharp and Lap Dulcimer

& with Tom Levy on Bass and Bodhran

Accompanying herself on the Guitar, the Appalachian Lap Dulcimer, or the Autoharp, Marti Rogers sings a wide variety of songs in the folk genre from traditional to contemporary including some of her own.   In her strong, clear voice, she weaves a spell taking us back to simpler times when people sat on back porches, or around the hearth making their own music.

Tom's rhythmic bass blends with Marti's skillful flat picking on the guitar.  Marti’s virtuoso autoharp shines on mountain songs, and tunes from the parlors of the early 1900’s when it first came into vogue.  They adeptly mix folk, old-timey,  country, and 20th century songwriters.

From chanteys of the eastern seaports to songs of the old west, their varied programs cover a range of folk music styles of the cities, towns, and country-sides of America.

Marti and Tom sometimes get together with friends to form the band “Ole Rusty Pickup.”  More voices, more instruments, even more music.

In addition to numerous coffee houses and clubs, Marti has performed at community centers, parks, fairs, festivals, nursing homes, retirement communities, churches, schools, the New York World's Fair, on radio, television, and the internet.  She is a three-time winner of the Folk Factory People's Choice competition.  Marti's CD, "Plain and Fancy" is available from CDBaby.com.
